London's Transformed Victorian Toilets: Unique Bars, Cafes Art Spaces in 2025

Edited by: Ainet

London continues to surprise with its innovative use of space. Throughout the city, former Victorian-era public toilets have been transformed into unique venues, offering a glimpse into the past while providing modern experiences.

These repurposed spaces now house trendy bars, cozy cafes, and even art galleries. For example, the Attendant in Fitzrovia is a popular coffee shop located in a former Victorian toilet, retaining some original features like the urinals. Another example is the WC Clapham, a wine bar that has preserved many of the original 19th-century features.

Adding to this trend, a former underground public convenience in Victoria Place is slated to become a nightclub in April 2026. Additionally, in February 2025, plans were approved to convert public lavatories, rumored to have been used by Charlie Chaplin, into a florist. These transformations offer both locals and tourists a novel way to experience London's history and culture.
