Canada is launching the "Canada Strong Pass" to provide financial relief to travelers this summer. This pass offers free entry to national parks, historic sites, and protected areas from June 20 to September 2, 2025.
The pass also includes discounts on campsites, national museums, and train travel. This initiative aims to boost local tourism and create more opportunities for nature-based tourism.
The pass is valid for both locals and travelers, with no prior registration required. Information on participating national parks and facilities can be found on the official Parks Canada website.
The pass grants free entry to all national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas managed by Parks Canada. However, there are some exceptions.
Camping fees in participating parks will have a 25% discount, though reservations are still required in many places. The discount does not apply to provincial, municipal, and private parks, nor to campsites and accommodations not operated by Parks Canada.
For train travel with VIA Rail, youth under 18 can travel free when accompanied by an adult, who pays the full price. Travelers aged 18-24 receive a 25% discount on tickets.
Visitors under 18 receive free entry to national museums, while those aged 18-24 get a 50% discount. Holders of a "Parks Canada Discovery Pass" or an annual pass valid for June, July, and/or August 2025 will receive an automatic three-month extension.
For example, a pass originally valid only until July 2025 will now be valid until October 2025. Adjustments to prices or partial refunds are planned for seasonal passes.
Due to the expected increase in visitors to national parks, it is recommended to reserve campsites and accommodations early. Visitors should also observe park rules to protect the environment and ensure a sustainable experience.
