Mount Dukono in North Halmahera, North Maluku, Indonesia, erupted on Sunday, sending a column of volcanic ash soaring 3,000 meters above the summit. The eruption occurred around 1:46 PM local time. The ash cloud, observed to be thick and gray, drifted northwest. Seismic activity was recorded during the event, and the eruption is ongoing. Authorities have raised the alert level to Level II (Waspada), urging residents, visitors, and tourists to avoid activities within a 4-kilometer radius of the Malupang Warirang crater. Periodic eruptions with volcanic ash are expected, and ash dispersal depends on wind direction and speed. Residents are advised to prepare masks to protect themselves from the dangers of volcanic ash inhalation.
