Chile's Tourism Boom: Record International Arrivals and High Occupancy Rates Mark a Successful Summer in 2025

Chile's tourism industry is thriving, marking a successful summer in 2025 with record international arrivals and high hotel occupancy rates. According to the Undersecretary of Tourism, Verónica Pardo Lagos, January 2025 saw 846,821 foreign tourists, a 67.3% increase compared to January 2024. Argentina remains the primary source market, accounting for 61.2% of total arrivals.



The National Tourism Service (Sernatur) reported a 69.9% occupancy rate across 53 tourist destinations between February 10th and 15th, a 4.1 percentage point increase from the same period in 2024. Valdivia-Corral led with a 92.6% occupancy rate, followed by the Lake Ranco Basin at 91.9% and La Serena-Coquimbo at 89.5%.



Destinations in the northern, central, and southern regions all experienced high occupancy rates, with many surpassing the national average. The austral zone also saw strong performance, confirming a positive summer season for the Aysén and Magallanes regions. The rise in tourism from the United States, Uruguay, and Mexico is also notable, alongside a resurgence in European and Chinese tourism.
