Tail Town Cat Café Reopens After Fire with Community Support

05:51, 16 January

Edited by: Екатерина С.

Tail Town Cat Café is set to reopen on Friday, January 17, after narrowly escaping the Eaton Fire that impacted Pasadena on January 7. This beloved establishment is known as Southern California's largest nonprofit cat café.

Located on the Altadena-Pasadena border, the café spans 2,000 square feet and remained unharmed while surrounding areas suffered significant damage. Thanks to the quick actions of staff and volunteers, over 30 resident cats were safely evacuated to foster homes during the emergency.

Gwendolyn Mathers, the acting Executive Director, expressed gratitude, stating, 'Tail Town Cat Café has been very lucky and survived the Eaton Fire. We're ready to welcome cat lovers back and support those affected by this tragic event.'

In the spirit of recovery, Tail Town has initiated a supply drive for essential items like bottled water, cat food, and medical supplies. Donations can be made on weekends, and those in need can request supplies via email.

The café also launched an Eaton Fire Recovery Campaign, offering various ways for the community to contribute, including gift cards and merchandise sales. Since its opening in 2021, Tail Town has provided a safe haven for up to 40 rescue cats and a cozy space for visitors to interact with adoptable felines.

Operating from Friday to Sunday, the café hosts adoption events, private parties, and art exhibitions, making it a unique spot for animal lovers and community engagement.

Tail Town Cats is a registered nonprofit dedicated to rescuing cats from difficult situations and promoting animal welfare education.
