Professor Syamsul Ghufron from Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (Unusa) advocates integrating "Rahmatan lil Alamin" (RA) into Indonesian language education. RA is an Islamic teaching of universal love and compassion. On May 22, 2025, during his inauguration speech, Prof. Ghufron urged educators to view Indonesian not just as a communication tool, but as a means of shaping national character.

In his speech titled "Bahasa Indonesia sebagai Media Pendidikan Karakter Rahmatan Lil Alamin: Integrasi Nilai dalam Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia" (Indonesian Language as a Medium for Character Education Rahmatan Lil Alamin: Integration of Values in Indonesian Language Learning), he emphasized an integrative approach, linking language aspects with ethical, religious, and socio-cultural values, similar to practices in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools (pesantren).

Rector of Unusa, Prof. Dr. Achmad Jazidie M.Eng., expressed pride in Prof. Ghufron's achievements, highlighting his ability to impart life values through language. Prof. Ghufron's advocacy aims to instill moral values aligned with RA from phonology to syntax in the Indonesian language. He believes that integrating RA values into Indonesian language learning is strategic for forming a generation that is intelligent, empathetic, and promotes peace.
