Global Linguistics Rankings: Lancaster and UCL Excel in QS Subject Rankings 2025

Lancaster University's Linguistics program secured third place globally in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025. Eight other subjects at Lancaster also ranked within the top 100. English Language and Literature achieved 38th position, while Marketing secured 48th. The rankings analyze reputation and research output across over 5,000 institutions. Lancaster's Linguistics department focuses on language in learning, communication, and society, impacting areas like dyslexia support and NHS service improvements. UCL maintained its top position in Education and Architecture & Built Environment. The university secured top 20 rankings in 20 subject areas. The IOE, UCL's Faculty of Education and Society, has led Education for 12 years consecutively. The Bartlett, UCL's Faculty of the Built Environment, ranked first for Architecture & Built Environment for the third year. UCL ranks in the top five worldwide in Archaeology, Pharmacy & Pharmacology, Geography, and Anthropology. QS evaluates universities using metrics like academic and employer reputation, research citations, and international partnerships.
