On June 30, 2025, Camélia Ntoutoume Leclercq, Gabon's Minister of National Education, initiated the Project to Support Environmental Education in Gabonese Primary Schools (PAEEG).
This project aims to strengthen environmental education for Gabonese teachers and students. It includes the rehabilitation and upgrading of six public primary schools, accommodating 2,350 students and 95 classrooms.
The goal is to integrate ecological issues into the primary education system, fostering a generation more aware of climate change and biodiversity challenges. The minister emphasized the project's response to the need for improved integration of environmental issues and sustainable development in the Gabonese education sector, addressing the current low awareness among teachers and students regarding climate change.
