Burgas, Bulgaria, is set to become a hub for academic excellence and scientific innovation with the development of a new scientific campus. The European Investment Bank (EIB) is supporting the project, which will serve four universities and attract students and researchers from across Europe and beyond. The campus is scheduled for completion in 2027.
The campus will be a multi-disciplinary academic center, featuring research and development labs, data hubs, student housing, and sports facilities. It aligns with the European Commission's InvestEU Advisory mandate, which aims to channel investments into forward-looking infrastructure and human capital. The project aims to attract young people and retain talent in the region.
The EIB Advisory team will assist Burgas in developing a sound economic and governance model for the project. Their support includes evaluating financing mechanisms and establishing a transparent management system. This initiative promotes collaboration with the private sector and academic institutions, enhancing the campus's long-term sustainability and global competitiveness. The campus represents a strategic investment in Burgas' future, aiming to become a magnet for talent and stimulate economic diversification.
