Enfield schools, including LBE, academies, independent, and special schools, are introducing a smartphone-free environment to boost learning, protect mental health, and ensure a safer online experience for students.
With Enfield Council's support, 82 schools have announced their plan to ban smartphones from school premises for most year groups starting September 2025. This decision addresses concerns such as online bullying, social isolation, exposure to harmful content, and classroom distractions.
Schools suggest parents consider alternatives like basic phones without internet access or fully locked-down phones. Enfield Council has also launched a 'Keep Your Child Safe Online' guide to help families promote healthy internet usage.
