The UAE Ministry of Culture announced the UAE Reading Month in March 2025, aiming to enhance reading habits and skills. This initiative aligns with the UAE's vision to foster a knowledge-based society. The announcement took place at Al Safa Art and Design Library in Dubai, with key figures from the Ministry of Culture, Dubai Culture, the Ministry of Education, Sharjah Book Authority, Salon Al-Multaqa, and the Emirates Writers Union in attendance. The programs during Reading Month will include diverse cultural and knowledge-based activities organized by ministries, local entities, and public interest associations. The primary objective is to cultivate reading habits and emphasize reading's role in sustainable development and cultural awareness. The initiative reflects the UAE's commitment to creating an educated society and driving sustainable development, aligning with the 'UAE Centennial 2071' plan to establish the UAE as a global hub for innovation and culture. Reading Month will feature events at the Ministry's Cultural and Creative Centres across the Emirates, including initiatives by local cultural entities to foster a reading culture.
