Vatican Website Redesign: A More Accessible Digital Embrace for the Church

Edited by: Irena I

The Vatican's official website, vatican.va, has undergone a significant redesign, marking a shift towards improved user experience and accessibility. Launched in 1995, the website now features a clearer graphic design aimed at better serving its global audience. The redesign prioritizes easy navigation and access to key documents. Spearheaded by Peruvian graphic designer Juan Carlos Yto, the project aims to reflect the Church's embrace of the digital world. The updated site emphasizes user-friendliness, making it easier to find documents and content related to the Pope and his predecessors. It is available in nine languages, catering to a diverse international audience. The new design incorporates five primary colors, each with a variant, identified by unique RGB codes. While the redesign is ongoing, with updates still in progress, the Vatican aims to create a more inclusive and navigable online presence. This digital transformation reflects the Church's commitment to engaging with the modern world through accessible and user-centered design.
