Melek Zeynep Bulut Explores Memory and Perception in New Design Installation

Edited by: Irena I

Multidisciplinary artist and designer Melek Zeynep Bulut is set to unveil a new installation exploring the concept of 'material memory' as a shaping force of time and space.

The installation, titled "Duo," aims to present the concept of memory as an instrument shaping the relationship between matter and form. It invites viewers to explore the possibilities of interacting with a new dimension by transcending the physical form.

The artwork, which uses reflective pieces designed with soil from various locations in Turkey, is an expression of a cycle encompassing collective memory and perception. The pieces are arranged in a cube form using the "Tesseract Cube" from mathematics, supported by recurring acoustic and light arrangements, and exhibited with the theme of "timelessness and spacelessness."

Bulut, who works in Istanbul and London, is known for her works that synthesize space, experimental architecture, perceptual constructs, and visual arts. Her previous work, "Open Work," which represented Turkey at the 2023 London Biennale, received critical acclaim for its "conceptual clarity and poetic material language."

Bulut's work has garnered significant recognition, including the London Design Biennale 2023 Public Award, Red Dot: Design Concept, and the A'Design Award.
