Piauí, Brazil, has inaugurated the Casa do Artesão Design Mestre Albertino, a new space dedicated to promoting and commercializing the work of local artisans. This initiative aims to boost the visibility and economic independence of Piauí's craftspeople by providing a structured environment for showcasing and selling their products.
The space features a permanent sales area, an event and exhibition space, and a meeting room for artisan training.
Initially, the Casa do Artesão will benefit 40 artisans, with plans to expand to over 100 by July 2025.
The project integrates with events like CasaCor Piauí and national tourism fairs, increasing the presence of Piauí craftsmanship nationally and internationally.
The initiative includes designer support for artisans, offering expertise in pricing and product curation.
The Casa do Artesão also aims to preserve artisanal traditions, encourage knowledge transfer between generations, and promote social inclusion through crafts. The space honors Mestre Albertino, a renowned local artisan, and seeks to continue his legacy by supporting and empowering the next generation of craftspeople.
