A study conducted at Nancy Regional University Hospital in France demonstrates that artificial intelligence (AI) significantly improves the detection of brain aneurysms. Researchers from Tangram, specializing in image analysis, developed an AI-powered tool that assists radiologists in diagnosing aneurysms, which are bulges in blood vessels that can lead to serious bleeding if ruptured. The AI algorithm, based on a deep neural network, achieved an 86% detection rate, surpassing non-expert radiologists' average of 75% and matching expert radiologists' performance. The tool aims to provide doctors with a reliable method for automatic detection, regardless of aneurysm size. While AI enhances detection, treatment decisions will remain with doctors. The researchers plan to expand the tool's database to improve its performance and apply the technology to other areas of medical imaging. The models are free to access online but still need clinical validation.
